Product Description
View from Thira town is a piece I felted after a holiday in Santorini. I took a shot of the view of the Caldero from the town walls after watching the sunset from this vantage point. Even though the place was buzzing with evening activity there was an eerie sense of calm and quiet as it darkened. The church stands austerely against the dark night sky, with the dome standing out in 3D. I felted the dome of the church in the round to give depth and draw as the main focus of the piece. The white wall hugs around and I detailed the rooftop scene. I t was quite a triumph to manage to felt the tiny furniture on the rooftop, I love the colours of the patio and the way I have created tiles using the grey wool. The pastel shade is echoed in the dome roof ledge and the deep terracotta fencing too. The subtle palette works well tonally and the cascading 3D foliage gives a lovely depth of colour and interesting textures for the eye to feast on, with pops of red berries in the foreground drawing the eye into the quiet scene. A beautiful memory saved in felt for ever, I hope you agree ? Maybe you share this memory too from a holiday in Santorini ? View from Thira town measures framed 50cm x 50cm,actual felted area 30cm x 30cm.
